Sample Making connects the design and development side of fashion to the production and consumer side
WHAT IS A SAMPLE?
In the fashion industry, a sample is another word for prototype. A sample is the first time your design has been sewn together in real life. It is important to have your tech pack, sewing pattern and materials come together as a sample BEFORE production begins at any scale.
WHO IS A SAMPLE MAKER?
A sample maker is a skilled seamstress who deeply understands the process of garment design and production. As your freelance sample maker, I prepare, cut, and sew together your garment (or accessory or soft good). Your design, tech pack, pattern and sourcing come together in the sample for the first time. SO EXCITING!
WHEN ARE SAMPLES MADE?
It is important that you or your client has clearly communicated the design before sampling begins. I strongly recommend that you have at least a preliminary TECH PACK. A paper PATTERN and MATERIALS are required to be able to sew together your sample.
